Requirements Before installing KmPg2, make sure that you have the following packages installed:
- Kommander (part of KDEWebDev package)
- FFMPEG
- Transcode
- Sox
- MJPEG Tools >= 1.8.0
- y4mscaler
If you are planning to convert MiniDV files to MPEG2, installing SMILUtils is recommended. This enables you to create previews of parts of the video.
What kinds of video files KmPg2 can read depends entirely on your FFMPEG version.
Running the Installer To install KmPg2, you only need to extract the tarball and run the Installer.kmdr file by clicking on it with the mouse. The graphical installer will appear and install KmPg2 system-wide. It will also add a shortcut to the application menu.
The installer is a Kommander dialog. You need to have Kommander installed in order to run it
KmPg2 and the X Composite Extension Using the experimental X Composite Extension with KmPg2 is not recommended. Attempts of KmPg2 to display video may result in broken behavior. The source of the problem is either in MJPEGTools or in the Composite extension itself.
